Important Client Safety Information
Do you use any safety equipment?
Yes - this is an essential part of the experience, we use body armour for the knees and elbows, as well as providing helmets for each participant.
How do I know its safe?
As with any activity, there are risks involved in participating, falls from a Segway are possible and like other hazardous activities such as skiing, horse riding and mountain biking there is a large amount of individual responsibility, which means it is very difficult to measure the danger as each person behaves differently and will conduct themselves differently whilst riding.
Please ensure you have satisfactory insurance cover to take part in the experience, Segway Events does hold adequate insurance for Public Liability and this provides cover for our business’s legal liability to pay damages which result from a negligent act on our part.
Weight and Height Limits
Are there any height restrictions?
Riders will not be allowed to ride a segway if they are under 134cm tall.
Are there any weight restrictions?
Riders will not be allowed to ride a Segway if:-
• Their weight exceeds 117kg (18.4 stone)
• Their weight is under 45kg (7.08 stones)
Please note weighing scales are in operation on our events. The Event Managers decision is final on this and NO refunds will be given if participants turn up on the day and do not meet these requirements.
These restrictions are strictly enforced to meet the requirements of the manufacturer and our insurance.
Health / Age Restrictions
How old do you have to be to do a Segway experience?
There are no minimum age restrictions, however riders have to be at least 134cm tall and over 45kg (7.1 stone) as well as under 117kg (18.4 stone).
Every participant will be weighed on site, so please ensure you check these restrictions before booking - no refunds will be given to customers arriving on site who do not meet these requirements.
Is there an upper age limit?
No, however all participants must be fit and healthy. If a participant has any concerns about their health they must contact their GP before booking.
I have an injury or illness can I still participate?
If you are not in good health you should NOT participate.
We are not medically trained professionals and therefore cannot comment on indvidual cases, therefore we so strongly recommend you consult your doctor if you have any concerns about your health.
Are there any other health restrictions?
Yes, all pre-existing medical conditions must be declared before riding a Segway. Falls from a Segway are possible and if you have anything in your medical history that might be affected by a fall we recommend you do not take part.
Participants definitely should not ride if they are:
· under the influence of alcohol or drugs
· suffering from conditions such as (but not limited to) heart disease or epilepsy
Are you insured?
We recommend you have satisfactory insurance cover to take part in the experience.
Pure Kiwi Adventures holds adequate insurance for Public Liability and this provides cover for our business’s legal liability to pay damages which result from a negligent act on our part.
However as with other hazardous activities such as skiing, mountain biking or surfing we recommend you have your own insurance policy to cover you for accident and injury whilst riding a Segway. We hope that you never need to use your insurance, but this is definitely a case of better safe than sorry.
